Poets’ Bill of Rights

“I give myself a poet’s right, otherwise I would not dare to speak.” -Cixous

1. We have the right to remain silent.
2. We have the right to doubt our sanity, ability, relevance, and word choice.
3. We have the right to change our poems again and again and again until the crack of doom – publishers be damned.
4. We have the right to be misunderstood.
5. We have the right to reinvent the universe. That’s why it’s here.
